BIOGRAPHIE

Née en 1989, Anna Tjé vit et travaille à Paris.
À travers une pratique transdisciplinaire et entre usage du corps et du geste, de la poésie et du récit, de la musique, du textile, de l’objet, de l’image et des média, Anna Tjé tente de déconstruire les mécanismes de survie et de guérison dans les dites subcultures.

Naviguant entre création contemporaine et recherche, elle investit la performance de manière  autodidacte - dont l’endurance art, la danse, la déclamation, le chant sacré - et l’installation ainsi que la vidéo afin d’explorer les notions d’intime, de trauma et de résilience du corps féminin noir. En puisant ainsi dans son archive personnelle et dans les parcours de militantes féministes et/ou queer, ainsi que les philosphes de la diaspora africaine, elle questionne la propriété de l’utopie, de la science-fiction et de la spiritualité comme vecteurs d’émancipation et de communication.

Co-fondatrice de la revue littéraire et artistique à contre-courant Atayé, Anna Tjé a fait ses études à l'École de mode Mod’Art International Paris, avant de se diriger vers les médias. Diplômée d’un Master d’ingénierie éditoriale et communication de l’Université de Cergy-Pontoise, elle continue d’approfondir ses recherches dans le cadre d’une thèse en Arts et Médias à la Sorbonne-Nouvelle - Paris 3. En janvier 2019, elle a également participé à l’Ecole doctorale des Ateliers de la pensée de Dakar (Sénégal), et fut encadrée par Felwin Sarr, Achille Mbembe Yala Kisukidi, Françoise Verges, Jamila Mascat, Abdourhamane Seck et Bado Ndoye.

Anna Tjé is a self-taught performance artist and researcher born in 1989, that lives and works in Paris, France.
Through a transdisciplinary practice at the intersections of the body gestures, texts, music, textile, objects and video, Anna Tjé aims to deconstruct the survival mechanisms of healing in “subcultures”.


Navigating through contemporary creation and research, she tackles performance art – in which, endurance art, dance, sacred chants and declamation – as well as film objects and installations in order to explore the notions of intimacy, trauma, resilience, and the black woman body.
Pulling from her personal archive and from the trajectories of black women feminists and queer activists, as well as philosopher from the African Diaspora, she questions the property of Utopia, science-fiction and spirituality as vectors of emancipation and communication.
 
She recently enrolled in ‘Timelight’ a 6 months art and research project in Starsbourg France around the Disco Movement and created her first archipelagic piece called Nyum Elucubris. A piece that consist in 3 performances and 1 video installation about the myth of Nyum Supernova, which she got to showcase during the ‘Timelight’ traveling exhibition in October, around Strasbourg and the Est of France.
In January 2019, she was part of the first postgraduate program of the Workshops of Critical Thought in Dakar, Senegal (Ateliers de la Pensée), founded by philosophers Felwin Sarr and Achille Mbembe.

Co-founder of the literary and arts journal Atayé, she went to the Mod’Art international Paris Fashion school before exploring the media. Graduate of a Masters in communication and publishing, she continues to deepens her research during her PhD program in Arts & Media with a specialty in Performance arts and Theater at the University of La Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris. She is supervised by Sylvie Chalaye (La Sorbonne) and co-supervised by Frieda Ekotto (University of Michigan).


Her work was published in Afrikadaa Magazine as well as Ex Nihilo Magazine and she contributed to the Afrocyberféminismes cycle in Paris (FR) and she was invited to present her work at the Théâtre de l’Usine in Genève (Switzerland). She has also shown her work at the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale, Paris, at the Centre Pompidou, Paris (FR), at the Plateaux Sauvages/MPAA, Paris (FR), at the Pavillon des Canaux, Paris (FR) and at La Colonie, Paris (FR).
