Nyum and Ma... An intergenerational and intimate correspondence.
A ceremonial dialogue where lullabies in Bassa and
Afro-Brazilian languages commemorate the memory
of an ancestress now living in the outer world.
For this performance, I invite my mother, Ma, as a virtual figure and I ask her to give me strengh. A multilingual conversation in Bassa language and portuguese Brazilian starts, and embodies intimacy and the complicity of our exchanges.
I also invite artist Fabiana Ex-Souza in this performance, to create a sort of link and support for all the physical and metaphysical entities within this conversation.
